Texas

I wanted to share the coop my dh is building for me. We are currently storing bicycles in it, but that will change as soon as I can get the bicycles into the too full garage.

From the front, it looks just like a garage.

On the back side. All of this is chicken wire. The outside will be framed in hardware wire as well to keep predators out. The door will go somewhere back here. I am standing in the run area.

Looking in. I could see more when I was taking the picture.

This is the side. I think that the roosts will go here. I'm not yet sure where we will put the nesting boxes.

This is the doorway between the front of the garage and where the chickens will be. I will keep the front area for feed storage, etc.

This is looking out toward the run area.

That's going to look good!
I love this guy!!!

Ok Got another question......
Have you ever found your self having to help one of your chicks poop? One of my girls was clucking and clucking, trying and trying to poop. She kept turning around trying to make it happen but it wouldn't come out. Her behind was all bulged out so I picked her up and had to help it out for her. As a nurse I would say drink more water but I don't know about chicks? Has anyone else had that happen, what caused her to be constipated?

Silkies: Lil' Blue and Coco

Silkies are really hard to sex. The males grow streamers in their top knots. If you see very obviously long feathers in their top knot, it is a male. The females have round poofy topknots. I think the show males take a long time to get their streamers and are even harder to sex than the pet quality birds.

Theyre still feathering out, so everything looks like streamers...lol
but until then, my gut feeling is that the buff is a cockerel. His/her comb is growing waaaay faster than the White's. And it seems to be the "leader" of the 2.
but obviously ill wait and see. Ive got time. Lol.
They're only 7ish weeks

I just got some dirty looks just now.... I wanted to see what the ladies would do to sound effects of other chickens..... they looked at the computer and them looked at me with dirty looks..... it was halarious

Send a picture of the buff's comb and side view of his top knot. I got fooled by a few of mine. Mine are only pet quality, but a couple of the girls made me think they were boys. Their laying eggs set me straight.
