Powdered eggs?? Ok I opened that one too to read a little later. The things we learn on BYC!
I believe, but could be wrong, that McDonalds uses powdered/dehydrated eggs. Schools too, and other places. I know we can store eggs in the cabinet for awhile in a cool place but I think dehydrating them would take up less room and we wouldn't have to worry about any going bad or breaking. If you try it before me, let me know how it works!

I will tonight and send it tomorrow. I don't have internet at home.

If you need to you can text me the pic if you want here is my number 903-520-0503. I will take them just need to know if the tote will be big enough to get them home in. Don't want to let them out in the car. I have a 45 gal tote that I hope they will fit in.

The gang is probably 2 wks old now. Will have had them 2 wks Thur. Going to put their feet on the ground some this week but nights still in the brooder until it gets warmer at night. What is a good age to move them to grow out pen. they are still getting some extra heat at night...Saturday night I forgot to turn on the lamp and they were all huddled together in a corner so is still too cold for them w/o the heat at night.
Also when can they get something besides chick feed and a few treats? What is a good feed? If I understand they should not get any kind of layer mix for sometime.
Looking on the bag of my Texas Naturals, it says to feed them the starter until 10 weeks or so. After that I guess you go to the grower. I only see broiler grower, I don't see pullet grower on their site.

Mine got bananas today. I give them a treat almost every day. Sometimes fruit, sometimes some kind of greens and boiled/scrambled eggs when I have plenty. I'm running low on my eggs, so they'll have to wait to get some good yard eggs. I gave them fishing worms yesterday. They loved them!

Had to take a moment and share this. This was on Facebook this morning. To cute!

cute!

It never rained here, sure did look and sound like for a bit. It passed just north of me.

I did the raised bed cinder block thing. Yes, it is a pain. I put another bed in front of my cinder blocks to I did my best and didn't worry if they weren't perfect. They are pretty darn straight and almost all the same height. The yard slopes some so making them all the same height was a bit of a challenge.
We actually got a touch of rain this afternoon. Just enough to make a thick yellow paste on my porch from all the pollen. It started thundering as I was feeding my dogs. I had to run out there and get my 2nd roost under the barn so it wouldn't get wet. I'm in the process of painting it.

On a good note, all my chicks went up the ramp into the brooder this evening when I went and fed them. Of course it was looking dark due to the storm, so maybe that helped get them in. At least I didn't have to catch any today! :)

So sorry you lost your mom. Hope you get better quick too. My son used to have random, really bad nose bleeds. I finally had his nose cauterized and he hasn't had any trouble for over 5 years now. I also learned this trick to get a bad nose bleed to stop. Take a piece of paper (about 2x3") fold it up and place it between your lip and upper gums (it will be just under your nose) and leave it there until the bleed ing stop. When we started doing this his nose bleeds went from 45 mins + to less than 20 minutes.

My allergies were on over drive last week and I had a sore throat from that. Never got into my chest though. My son had something that gave him a lot of congestion and a bad cough. HE got over it in about a week. Mucinex is great stuff.

I buy powdered egg whites for making meringue. They work great!
Why would you want to dehydrate lettuce???

I ran a a bunch of errands this morning, now I need to work. This day is running away fast! We have rain in the forecast for the next 3 days. :) I bought fertilizer and I am going to try and get it down after work tonight. It doesn't have to be watered in so if it doesn't rain I'm still good. :)

And on a more happy (?) note. I am leaning towards saying the heck with the budget and get chickens anyway. I really want them soooo badly. I will wait until May though. I need to recover (and see what April hits me with....).

Hope everyone has a great day!

I hate to say it, after all our conversations through pm, but you are soo like me!!!!!!!!!!! I won't even encourage you because you know better than all of us what is doable and what will stress you out more than it is worth. Soo, just go with your gut, and make sure you don't get into a bind that makes you regret the chickens.
