Texas

It never rained here, sure did look and sound like for a bit. It passed just north of me.

I did the raised bed cinder block thing. Yes, it is a pain. I put another bed in front of my cinder blocks to I did my best and didn't worry if they weren't perfect. They are pretty darn straight and almost all the same height. The yard slopes some so making them all the same height was a bit of a challenge.

Yeah!

Texas Naturals makes pullet grower.

I honestly think I couldn't do any worse than the current guy in office. I'd be willing to bet I could do better.

I'd put my money on you!!!

I hate to say it, after all our conversations through pm, but you are soo like me!!!!!!!!!!! I won't even encourage you because you know better than all of us what is doable and what will stress you out more than it is worth. Soo, just go with your gut, and make sure you don't get into a bind that makes you regret the chickens.

This is me if you get your chickens!
That will be me too! I've paid out about $3K in unplanned expenses so far this year. This really needs to stop!!!!!

Is the lady near Bonham selling straight run?
Yes, except for the cream legbars since they auto sex.

The link for the lady in Bonham won't work :(
Here it is again. [email protected] Here is her phone number too. She won't ship, and she does not text. She does return calls though. 903 - 227 . 3738

I'd put my money on you!!!
Thanks!

I got the yard fertilized tonight. Now it just needs to rain, lightly at first to water it in well, then it can pick up on Wednesday so the lakes get filled up. I used Scott's Turf Builder so it doesn't need to be watered in (still pet and child/people safe) so I am good either way. :) I wonder if we will get any rain this week at all. The forecast keeps changing.
It was really funny when I was getting the fertilizer. The sales associate at Lowe's was explaining to me all about the coverage and how engineers determined that and I would probably not get as much coverage out of the bag. I think he was trying to get me to buy the smaller bags too instead of the covers 10,000 sq ft bag too. When I let him know I had a 1/4 acre yard he sent me on my way. lol! I used half the bag, so I did good. :)

Do you think I could use the Scots Turf Builder where my girls free range? I have not used anything and I have got half weeds, that they care less about, and half St Augustine.

@harley1975 ~ Glad you going to get those EE's! Please be sure and post pics for us! :)

My wife talked me into it. She said you been talking about getting EE and did not want to get them from TSC or Atwoods cause I could not tel what breed is what there. She is like all of you by saying you need more. If I leave it up to her I would have chickens running out of my ears. I have 36 coming the end of April. Already have 2 turkeys she talked me into getting. When I go to TSC or Atwoods I have to go without her or make her sit in the car or we will walk out with more chickens. I have room for 50 and my limit is coming up unless I build another coop and run. Which I have started picking up stuff to do just that anyways but don't tell her that.

Looking on the bag of my Texas Naturals, it says to feed them the starter until 10 weeks or so. After that I guess you go to the grower. I only see broiler grower, I don't see pullet grower on their site.

Mine got bananas today. I give them a treat almost every day. Sometimes fruit, sometimes some kind of greens and boiled/scrambled eggs when I have plenty. I'm running low on my eggs, so they'll have to wait to get some good yard eggs. I gave them fishing worms yesterday. They loved them!

cute!

We actually got a touch of rain this afternoon. Just enough to make a thick yellow paste on my porch from all the pollen. It started thundering as I was feeding my dogs. I had to run out there and get my 2nd roost under the barn so it wouldn't get wet. I'm in the process of painting it.

On a good note, all my chicks went up the ramp into the brooder this evening when I went and fed them. Of course it was looking dark due to the storm, so maybe that helped get them in. At least I didn't have to catch any today! :)
I made chicken fried rice for dinner tonight and I put water chestnuts in it, I love them, but I didn't use the entire can so I gave them to my little peeps and they went nuts. LOVED them!

The news guy said this morning no rain today or tomorrow but pretty sure we would get a little Wednesday and even more Thursday! Well we had a pretty bad cloud come through and a nice little rain! LOL So I have no idea what will happen the rest of the week!

How cool she supports your obsession! Sure makes it more fun!
