WELCOME ALL NEWCOMERS from Rosenberg. We are good at enabling and LOVE pictures!!

I know most of y'all need this rain but it's killing the coop building. I made the mistake of letting my wife go to Atwoods with me yesterday cause we came home with 4 more chickens. Like I really need more At this time I have 2 turkeys , 6 bantam EE and have 36 chicks coming from ideal on the 28th. And I know Lisa you want pics!! Not sure what they are they are bantam she thinks the are EE I say not but don't know what they are.

I seriously love these chicks!!! They look like they're walking around on stilts! I need to stop ordering hatchery surprises/mixed assortments of chickens because I keep falling in love with more breeds than I have room for...

Aren't they adorable!!!

It has been a misty rain and a light rain off and on all day today. I am so glad it is gonna be so good for my garden. And my chickens have had a great time playing in and out of there coops today. All though I cant seem to get my lazy dogs to go outside for the life of me. They jusr stand on the porch and look at me like u exspect me to go out there and get wet. No way lol

It has been a misty rain and a light rain off and on all day today. I am so glad it is gonna be so good for my garden. And my chickens have had a great time playing in and out of there coops today. All though I cant seem to get my lazy dogs to go outside for the life of me. They jusr stand on the porch and look at me like u exspect me to go out there and get wet. No way lol

I've had to literally shove a couple of the dogs out the door just to get them outside to go potty.

Not the best pics because its not so bright outside right now. Oh yea, still have to get the lights moved over to their part of the coop!

Let me tell you hugs.... we went out there that morning and there were NO bees, not one all day until at the end of the day before we went in I saw one. So tell me the Lord doesn't take care of all of his creations!

Tragedy just struck in my baby pen. Lost three, not to be found, and half one half wrenched out of the 1x2 hardware clothe.

Made me puke.

Not sure what it was, I'm thinking raccoon, but it struck between seven when John did his morning round before leaving for work, and nine when I walked out there.

We had a memorial service for my favorite little pullet... The one wretched through the wire.

Just spent the last four hours taking down the 1x2 and replacing it with 1/4x1/4 and bolted it down to the brooder room.

I mustove jynxed myself this morning.

Little miss chicken is adorable!!! I wish mine was that tame.

This is so sad. I am so sorry. I just sent chills all over me.... worried about my babies but I think they should be ok in the coop. But will be making sure I sure the smaller wire on the pen. I will also be putting cattle guards down on the ground all around the pen and coop. We are cutting them in half before we put them down to keep critters from digging in.

I Started the day with an upset stomach,
17 yr old daughter is taking her driving test!


She Passed!
She is a good driver wasn't worried at all

Tonight is her first solo trip to take picture of a baseball game for school.
she is the 4th one to get her state freedom card, but it never seems to get easier to let go no matter how easy they try to make it

If you could send up a quick prayer for her I sure would appreciate it.

I caught a opossum last night and I may come to regret that I let it go on the neighbors property. I have trouble killing them as they eat poisonous snakes.

I have felt very triumphant as of the past 3 nights I think I have finally gotten the rats blocked from entering my coop at night and that is my second hurdle for getting DH's impulse chicks outside.

I am currently looking for a RAT AIR PISTOL if anyone has experience with an air pistol that will kill or slow down a rat for a second shot what kind do you use?

You know I got me 2 young cats and those girls have clean house in the barn for mice and rats. I see those dead things all over the place and now I think they are working on the gophers.

A raccoon will pull a fair sized chicken out through one inch wire--piece by piece. I think 1/2 inch is how small you have to go. I have 1/2 inch by 2 or 3 inches on my aviary and I worried a raccoon could stick their hands through even though the San Antonio zoo assured me a raccoon couldn't get my birds.

I am using 1/2 hardware cloth at the bottom part of my pen and then the cattle guards on the ground. I think we should be safe>

Been raining all day in Belott too. Wasn't able to work on coop but brought my 250 feet of hardware cloth into my shop and got it all cut to length.

After the drought in 2011, you will never hear me complain of rain!! Just don't need the winds or tornado's though!!

Ok Question what are you using to cut your hardware cloth. After putting up the wire in the coop and cutting it with hand cutters...... I want more POWER. LOL Also what are you going to use to nail it up? This hand staple gun I have sucks and my DH staple gun is too powerful. It's a carpenters gun for construction not wire nailing.

My little dog does the same thing..... little princess pup she think she is. Like her fur will melt. Its suppose to do this tomorrow around here too. I thought I was going to be sunny tomorrow.
