bucket is a 5 gallon bucket from Atwoods they are getting so big they are only 9 weeks old

Tractor Supply have already stopped selling & the lady at my local store said they will not be selling them again.  My daughter & I were excited to see some chicks when we went to pick up the DE, oyster shells & meal worm...but they were already gone.  So I know finding chicks will be tricky.  I may want to get slightly older pullets first, closer to our pullets' age, so there won't be so much prep-work before introducing them to our lovely ladies...for that, I have found many listings on Craigslist, although I am a little skeptical of Craigslist animal listings.  Or, I could hope to run into that lady from yesterday who said she had too many chicks and pullets on her hands & was willing to sell 'em.  Our options are different now that the chick-selling season has ended, but I'm sure we'll figure it all out if we really want 'em.  :thumbsup

Order what chicks you want at Ideal Hatchery! That way you get "what" you want. They will give you a pick up date when they hatch. You are not that far from them. Take 79 out of Austin to 77 and then 190 to Cameron.

That is what I am going to do and it's a hell of a lot farther for me.

Aaaaaand this is why I knew better than to leave my new ladies in the house for the day... Dirty birds! lol I didn't want to put them outside unsupervised with dogs who have never seen a chicken. They're out in the backyard (still in cage) eating grass and so far, the dogs have either ignored them all together or sat and stared at them quizzically. lol So far, so good

Harley, are you cooking those for all of us?? They look delicious. I'm thinking with a honey ham, I can have one ready next week!! let me head to the lease. We'll have a meal!!

Mags - He doesn't eat dog food. He eats what he catches. When he was three he took on, and won, over a Bob cat. The older he gets the less he can hunt as he is starting to ache. Blue won't live much past nine... Wasn't supposed to live past one after being hit by a car vet said out him down. All those pins and such in his back are holding him together and they hurt more often than not these days. He's a good boy.
