I know where you are coming from, my friend, haha! From my experience, most quail aren't necessarily calm, but you can make them comfortable around you. Starting when they are young, teach them to eat from your hand. Just holding out a palm full of feed can get them used to your presence. Eventually, they will get hungry enough to come on over and take a nibble. I did that with my crazy guineas. I withheld food for about an hour or so after I was supposed to feed them. By that point, they were ravenous and got over their Laura-phobia and were willing to climb up my arm for feed.

It takes a little patience. My quail, Coturnix and A&M, learned that I was the one who gave them fresh food and water daily. I also was the one who kept the young cockerel I housed with them from attacking them. Now, if they escape and see me nearby, they don't run/fly away. I can go up to them and pick them up easily. Thank goodness for that!

They say Coturnix quail can't fly.

That is a lie. I got hit in the face by a flying quail that my dog scared. Poor little guy hit my glasses and was in shock. My nose was sore for a day. We don't talk about that incident anymore.

It's gone to be a nice weekend as the weather doesn't get too hot yet. Will head to Houston tomorrow afternoon for a New House party .. yeah.

Clovis, did you finish your shop yet? Better double the work this weekend as it will rain next weekend.

! And my Sebastopol gander arrived last week as well!

Am thankful my fibromyalgia hasn't flared up since I've taken on so much at one time.

Same here hung! We are enjoying the cool weather. It won't be long when the hot will be here to stay.

I got one of my feeders finished this week. Actually, I got two finished, just need to get a lid for one of them. It works great! Now I don't have to refill the feeder several times a day.
