Plant early!  Its best to do that then reseed anything that doesnt sprout.  I use seeds for pretty much everything.  WAY cheaper. I put 2-3 seeds in each hole to help them push through the soil then thin them out only leaving the strongest one.  Water only in the morning.  I water every other day right now and will water everyday when we hit 90+ days.  I water for about 1.5 hours.

Yeah, not sure where you live but my garden is in full sun( for optimal results) and my soil is dry by the end of the day.
