Texas

I'm looking for a pygmy goat a little baby girl does anyone know anyone close to N. Texas selling one??
No, but you are making me want some goats so bad! I have been doing lots of research, and trying to figure out if I would be better off with goats or hair sheep. I think I need to retire before getting into milk goats, as I do have to travel for my job and my daughter likes to come with me so I'd have to get somebody to milk for me. It's tough enough finding a dog and duck sitter!

That will be our next chicks.  I really like the Cayugas or other quieter breed...after 35 years with a loudmouthed parrot...I'm all for the quiet ones

Yeah, I forgot how noisy Pekin ducks were. So I also am all for quiet breeds. I wanted loud geese to sound off when something is wrong, yes. They are my flock watch dogs. But the ducks quack so much and so loud that it is a bit annoying and has me jumping thinking, what's wrong now? Plus the Cayuga ducks are beautiful. I hear that some people are developing blue Cayuga ducks, if so I would love some. Blue and green iridescent feathers are gorgeous. I also hear that Cayuga ducks are good layers. Guess I am going to find out soon! I am excited for Ebony, next Thursday she will have baby Cayuga duckling companions. I hope she goes broody before they arrive, if not I'll have to raise them, not that I mind, but I want her to a family.

My BA's are only a month old, but they are developing the baggy pants look that my slightly older BO's chicks have. I can't wait to see them full grown. I had wanted some Amercucanas and EEs but I made a deal with hubby no more chicks this year in exchange for getting Ebony her ducklings. So guess I will enjoy what I have and try for the EEs and Ameraucanas next spring.

I'm doing some more research before I decide. Not set up for ducks yet. FIL says ducks are messy and he's the one with the pool/pond so they would be in his yard. He's also getting 12 guinea chicks in the next few days. We also still have 7 chicks that are only a week old and 10 that will be 8 weeks Sunday. That's enough for us to say grace over for now. I want ducks to have a proper home we've talked about digging a real pond. If we can accomplish that between now and next spring then I'll get serious about ducks. For now I'll just window shop.

I also want a pond, I find them beautiful and relaxing. But we could only have a small one, and with ducks and geese swimming in it I think it would get messy fast. I would need a good balance of fish and plants to help keep the poop under control. Don't think a small pond can support that kind of ecosystem. I will keep looking into it, the ducks and geese are happy with their kiddie pools so it's not a huge deal if I don't get a pond. The ducks are great foragers, they even eat slugs that chickens won't touch. Since I am getting a pair of female Cayuga ducklings next week, I can let you know how loud they are compared to the Pekin ducks. I can also take pics of my new girls once they get here, if you like.

Hey y'all! I am in Houston and looking for a blue, green or olive egg layer for sale. I can't have a rooster so must be accurately sexed and preferably 8-12 weeks old. Love anything flashy, barred or unusually colored. Project birds are awesome! A Silkied Ameraucana would be a dream come true. A picture would be appreciated.
