Can some1 check a conversion for me. It is very important that I don't screw it up. It is electrolytes for 2 ducklings. 8oz makes 110 gallons. So how much do I put in 1 gallon? I have .7 which is about 3/4 teaspoon, correct??

My salmon favorelle went at me with great force when I got my hand close to her while in the nest box. She did it twice. She didn't make any noises, but she had some serious force. Im surprised she didn't brake her beak when she got the bars instead of me. I think she would have really broke skin if she got me. Is she broody or? She also didn't fluff up, she did a lil but not majorly.
Starfire, How is Henry doing?
Ebony is getting pampered right now. She is going to be a very tame lap duck when this is all over, lol. We give her warm water soaks with Epsom salt and without. It seems to be helping her. And I don't think it's the bottom of her foot, I think it's her hip joint that is injured. I am doing what I can to help her heal. She is getting vitamin supplements, the soaks, she is in the nursery to prevent the bigger ducks and geese from bothering her. And we carry her all over now, we don't let her walk, only swim. When we set her down we Pur her between her food and water dish so she don't have to get up. I keep trying to think of what else I can do, but I can't think of anything.
I have 1 Siberian Husky who has already killed 2 of my neighbors chicks last year. I have 3 more Siberians that I don't trust because of their prey drive, an 80 pound Rottwieller that would probably try to mother Ebony and end up squashing her to death. And 1 Belgian Malinios mix that would be OK with her after a few minutes. Plus 4 indoor cats that think they are mighty hunters cause they get occasional flys. Not a great place of little Ebony, she would have an instant heart attack meeting that crew.
Had to move my entire flock into my barn looking coop. Our open air coop gets soaked during storms, we are trying to figure out a way to prevent this, in the meantime storms mean everyone goes to the chicken coop. It is rather crowded in there but at least everyone will be warm and dry tonight. Storm is supposed to hit us at 11PM. I am so glad that even though the 2nd coop isn't entirely finished, it is far enough along that we can put our flock in there for protection during the storm. Hopefully after this storm we can finish the 2nd coop and get to fixing the 1st one. Lol.
Ebony did put a little weight on her leg this evening. She is still limping badly, but she didn't use her wing as a foot. I'm very glad to see this. I hope she continues to improve quickly because she wants to be with her sister ducks. But she is getting very trusting of myself and my husband after all the soaks and swim therapy we give her. Guess I am going to have a lap duck after this, lol. And she gets her companions this Thursday! So excited for her, after the way she snuggled with the goslings I am hopeful she bonds to the ducklings quickly. That would be wonderful to see, her with some babies following her everywhere, lol.
Here's hoping all that pampering helps her heal quickly.
True...but you have to admit, she would make a great house duck.![]()
She would, but I think that she would be happier outside, living a ducks life with her sister ducks. None of the other ducks are as tame as she is, so they wouldn't be house ducks. Ducks like being in groups, they are flock animals like chickens and geese. Plus with 2 very active boys, 6 hyper dogs, and 4 cats, all the commotion in the house would terrify her. We will just have to snuggle her ever chance we get outside, lol.
Just checked on the flock as the lightning says the storm is about to break over us, and she not only has the 2 youngest goslings snuggled up with her, the 9 6 week old black Austrolorps have managed to get back into the temporary nursery we set up in the 2nd coop. I just kicked them out of the nursery a few days ago and I guess all the big chickens scare them so those little turds hopped back in. So Ebony has a whole lot of snuggle buddies tonight, lol.
