My brother in law brought over a feral kitten he caught and left it with us. My Presa Canario was watching it like a hawk. I figured "Oh well, in rhe morning all will be taken care of, I hope there will not be blood all over". In the morning the cat and dog were sleeping together! It was weird watching that big dog pretending to be scared when the kitten leaped out from under the furniture and grabbed its tail! The kitten perfered to live outside but would live us little presents on the the door sill. ( Moles, mice, etc.).

Where do you get cats spayed/neutered for that price???  It costs me $100 every female and $80 for males plus a rabies shot.

The cat rescue group has a contract thing with 1 vet. It's like 45 minutes to an hour drive for me. But worth it. Also SpaySA will do feral cats for free, but no shot. I took 1 dog there (low cost spay thing) and did not like it. So I stick with the rescue group for cats.

Was a long day yesterday, but the chicken house now has a real roof. DH worked his tail off to finish it. No more rained on chickens. Now we have to fix the ground water issue with a ditch and gravel.

Before....November last year.

And as of yesterday. All we had to buy was 8 2x4 and two sheets of clear corrugated. We traded our cousin eggs for life and garden veggies for the 8 sheets of tin. It was used so had to flex seal the holes but hey the price was right.

2 of my rescue cats have very unusual bonds with dogs.

Here is Kagura with her dog Dawn the Siberian Husky, and Kairi with Fiona the Rottweiler.

Very nice. I have to fix a ground water issue with my open air goose/duck coop.

Question...do silkies require any special care or can they live with other chickens. The lady I mentioned some time back finally send me an e-mail. She has chicks, silkie, polish and others for sale. I tried to get her to come to the thread but not so far. I sent her another e-mail this morning so hoping to hear back. Silkies are suppose to be good brooders so DH wants a couple if they are easy to take care of.

In other news...DH killed a 4-5 ft chicken snake yesterday while working on the chicken house. It had gotten tangled in some old bird net and was an easy kill. It was up against the back wall trying to get free...didn't make it! It got pitched into the woods before I could get a pic.

Moved Becka and the peepers to their new digs yesterday. They are loving the space to run and play.
Here they are at 2 wks as of Saturday.

This one had to make an escape and play chase around the coop first!

So cute! Glad you caught the snake.

Well, i think it's official...we have two new layer hens. Sunday DH gathered all the eggs. When we went to do so Monday there were 14 eggs! We only had 12 layers and since it takes more than a day to make an egg the 2 girls have to be laying, So I did the math and figured the 2 new girls are really 26 wks old not 22 like I thought. Then yesterday DH observed the white hen leaving a nest and checked to find a shiny wet egg in it! The egg is an odd color...almost lavender it's very light tan but has a pinkish color to it. Nice big egg too!! I'll get a pic later of it.
