i feel you there. our dog Pete is 16 and we wanted to put him down like 6 months ago when he lost his sight, hearing, and mobility. But every time we bring it up my dad throws a 2 year old fit. And last night he couldn't get up on his own and breathing hard so we where going to call out his vet to put him down. Then my dad threw a massive fit and broke my phone when i was on the phone with the vet. So now we are most likely going to have to watch him gurgle out like one of my cats a few years ago because my dad is too **** stubborn to let him go

Poor baby... I'm a tough guy but am a big old softie when it comes to animals and babies

I swear to all things holy.... A coon is going to die tonight. Ballsy coon stole a hen last night some time between 8&9, when I go out to close doors. Stole her right off her egg pile!!!!!!!! Left feathers every where. Blood trail up two trees. She was my favorite broody

I hunted for him last night. Found what was left of her body this morning. And found the tree he had her in because of that. Set the trap and sleeping with an ear open. RIP Fruit Loop
Good luck coon hunting! Sorry you lost your favorite hen! :(

Good morning peeps and peeper keepers. Monday is upon us again... uuuugh. Had to read a lot to catch up on things. Welcome to the new folks and for all those who suffered losses over the weekend, my heart goes out to you. As for me, I've been remodeling my father's new house from the floor joists up, as he sold the family home. He's 78 and lives alone. 5 bed 3 bath home on an acre was a bit much for him to keep up with. He moved into a small 1/1 on a postage stamp sized lot. It will be better for him but the down sizing was a nightmare! Now, I can finally get back to completing my chicken tractor. My little barred rocks aren't so little anymore and are itching for more breathing room!

I may have already mentioned this, but I am so proud I have to again, sorry. My daughter graduated high school Saturday! She was top 10% of her class, part of the honor society, vice president of the thespian chapter at her school, and she has been a black belt in martial arts since 16! We are so proud of her. She has scholarship to major university, she wants to do something in medical science along with acting. Kind of a strange combination, but still couldn't be more proud of all she has accomplished already, and we can't wait to see what she will do next, lol.

That is something to be proud about! What an accomplishment.

Bawhahahaha!!!! Went outside and there is a big ol mean coon in the trap.

I'm sure I shouldn't be so excited, seeing as I took an oath to protect animals, but the coon is going to die. I am protecting my flock. Yup, that's it!

I am truly sorry for your loss!!!

I also am going to play Devils advocate.

I have been a hunter for over 50 yrs and Trapping off and on for 30 yrs. You will catch this coon and then what? There will be another to take its place shortly thereafter!
You say you close your coop up somewhere between 8 and 9 at night. This time of year anything after 8:30 pm is just inviting a predator to enjoy a buffet.
This raccoon took advantage of you not securing your coop as early as you should have!!! Don't blame the raccoon for doing what he does to survive!!
People always blame the predator when it was their lack of doing something to prevent the attack to begin with.

Predators start stirring around about 30 minutes before dark and yotes and fox can attack at any time of day.
