One of my roosters got alot of that an elderly man said it was like a fungues, told me to put vasaline on it, I did for several days and it went away.

Thank you both! My other BO had a decent peck wound on her ear lobe, so I put coconut oil on it and it cleared up really fast.
Maybe I'll try that with her? I have a smaller yard, and while I have a pen, I read it can be carried by mosquitoes, so she'd have to be inside to actually be quarantined...and my husband was not excited about it lol

I picked up my babies today!!! Here they are

My guess is I have 1 male and three females do to how they stand and what they do when I flip them over on their backs!

I love these little buggers so much!!!

These babies are so cute! Where did you learn about gender determination behavior? I'd like to know more. We watch our chicks as they grow and try to figure out what they will be by appearance and how they act. Have not been right every time for sure....but learning and getting better.

Even with only 5 hens (4 of whom are laying daily), we've found ourselves in over our heads with eggs.     We've been giving extras away, but we can't give 'em away fast enough (I don't normally bake, and we don't eat very many eggs ourselves)...so I decided to sell the rest, and I've already got a couple of buyers.  It's amazing how much people will pay for "farm" fresh eggs.    Once we get the other 5 pullets (and they start laying eggs) we'll be in the money!  Ha-ha!  My husband loves this chickens already, but the prospect of making any sort of money for their extra eggs makes the whole deal that much sweeter.

I am going to miss my two brown leghorns. They are really great layers. They hatched Aug 10th 2012 and started laying at 5 months. I can only keep 3 hens for therapy according to my POA. And they will need to stay in their chicken yard when I am not using them for therapy. The leghorns find it far too easy to jump the fence so I picked them to go. Anyone near Liberty Hill need 2 Brown Leghorn pullets?

We give away extra eggs, but sometimes we end up with far too many in the fridge (like recently), so I posted a listing online for $5 per dozen & I got buyers. I've sold 3 dozen already, and have two more people waiting to be next in line to buy some...and we still plan on giving away extras. This'll all be easier to do when we get more layers 'round here...right now everyone (even us) are waiting for The Ladies to catch up & lay more.
