It's kind of ironic...the 2 hens we raised in the beginning are from Abraham who is a really big roo + RIR mom so they are large birds and the ones that are laying the huge eggs. Too bad they don't want to nest. The only hen that wants to brood all the time is my little bantam Catalana and she doesn't have good track record raising chicks lately. We will be patient and wait til spring either way...no chicks now! I just think those great big eggs would give some nice big chicks...which would grow into nice big birds! Hmmm...chicken math reaches 8 months into the future!

Quick update on the trampoline hoop coop... Wood sides are complete and cattle panels are on top (but still need attaching) We didn't get a chance to do much yesterday but I plan on knocking a big dent in it today/tomorrow. Got our new recruits yesterday... two Wyandottes and two Americaunas. That doubled the flock when added to our 4 Barred Rocks. Good times!

Very nice hens! Curious to see what you do with the front and back...looking good so far!

Ok...thanks for the info...not going to show them.  DH wants to try them as broodies.  He read they are good brooders and since our reds have no desire to nest but we want to hatch chicks in the spring, Silkies might be the answer. plus they are just cute!  Don't know what to expect from our SLW hens or my one Cuckoo maran hen, maybe they will go broody in the spring.

yes silkies are known to be good broodies

Gosh....this year is not a good year for animals for me....
I lost 9 out of 15 of my original chicks the first few days. Lost 3 of my grown (growing) girls, 2 in the last month.
Now our pup has Parvo...and there's nothing we can do except cross our fingers :/

also a good thing to give your pup if not able to stomache anything is give it cooked white rice, after a while you can add a little chicken to it, but start off with plain white rice. It is going to be the easiest thing on your pups tummy. Just slowly give it to your pup, dont want to shock the tummy

Plain corn flakes cereal is good also. Moisten with skim milk or milk half cut with water. Like therrychicken advised..a little at a time. Oh and you might try pedialyte if the pup won't drink gatorade.

Red, our Red Sex-Link, is quite lethargic this afternoon. I think she's over-heated. She allowed me to sprinkle her with the water hose, and I've placed a box fan out there (blowing directly on where Red is laying), and I've given them frozen veggies...my husband even applied a pack of frozen fruit on Red directly to help her cool off, which got her to perk up a little. Anything else we can do to help her feel better?

I brought her inside, in the air-conditioning. Her breathing sounds like it's rattling and she's a little more alert than she was outside, but still too calm for comfort. She has water with her & I gave her apple slices...she's not touching either. I'm going to let her settle in the bathroom for a bit and check on her later.

This is how she looks right now. She appears sleepy and disinterested in her water or apple slices. Maybe I should dunk her feet in cool/cold water?

If you find something that helps please post..i got a hen doing the same thing plus here comb is very pale, barely pink. All I could get here to eat was some banana and a little bit of cream corn. She just wants to sit on the roost all day. At least the fan blows on her there.
