Anyone near Comanche county?

Haha I have little barred rocks though and I'm keeping a trio, but a lady wanted to trade me a pullet and a rooster for another rooster that's about 10 months old..as much as I love roosters I already have a rooster that was given to me who is doing great, plus have a bunch of packing peanuts from Ideal. I was luck enough to get two pullets out of those.
I have some relatives in proctor! I bought a trio of oegb bbred from a guy name Bo at the flea market on July. What a trip for the birds they ended up from Comache all the way to Houston lol

We got our first mature bird yesterday! So excited! Now trying to get rid of some cockerals and then I think I'll have a happy flock!

She really is a beauty! I love that muff!
I can't wait!
I have done an Epsom salt soak, and foot scrubs but not full scrubs. I need a hairdryer to dry them.
My silkie girl needs a good sudsing up though. They've been playing in the mud to keep cool.

What part of Houston? :)
I'm from The Woodlands/Conroe (No chickens there though :( at least in the woodlands)

I read something recently about jello(sugar free) being good for them, but I bet you could do any type of gelatin. Sounds awful, but I bet some really rich bone broth would do the trick..plus we're coming up on winter. It could be a treat!

^This is me! haha

Mine have done that, then they DID eat it off the ground. Now I just feed them in a shallow pan every morning. Only have 3 left out there anyway :/

Maybe look into some autosexing breeds?

This is what makes me want a duck lol

Ah! I'm so sorry!

Lovely!
Not many people wash their birds it seems. Unless they are showing them however. I might try and go to the state fair bird shows this year and ask the people for some tips!!! 8D

I never thought of jello. I might have to try that. My husband likes jello, I do not, so when I get some for him I will have to steal a bit to make a batch for the chickies. And the bone broth doesn't sound bad to me. I gave my hens a left over chicken and turkey carcass before after it was cooked and everyone got what they wanted off of it. They loved it, however wrong that seems lol. To them it is just protein!

I used a pan for a little while, but I have 8 ladies and I always worry about them getting their fill. I just like to let them have free graze all day instead of eating it at once since they don't get to free range often.

We were told green. She hasn't laid her egg for the day yet. We are anticipating it though! None of our other females are laying yet.

I was going to ask the same question haha! Hope she lays for you soon!

Do you guys think I would be risking space issues if I added one or two more hens to my 8 hen flock? I have a Buff Brahma, a Jersey Giant(or so I was told, she might be an Astralorp), an Aracauna, a Rhode Island Red, a Gold Star, a Red shouldered Yokohama, a Silver Laced Cochin, and a Pardridge Cochin. I was thinking of adding a turkin, and maybe a green/blue or white egg layer. =/ My coop is 4x7.5 and my run is 6x8 and then has another space underneath the house that is 6x3. I am not having problems with my ladies right now. Everyone is mingling and adjusting to each other fine. Everyone was introduced about four weeks ago and now the younger pullets come out of the house on their own and just stay out of my two big hens way when they want food. I plan to install four nest boxes either this weekend or next.

Went home for lunch to give my ladies some fresh water and cool cantaloupe as a treat and was rewarded by one of our new EEs with a beautiful green egg. I was super stoked! It dwarfs our BR eggs!!
