anyone interested? I have to find them homes. $2 each, chocolate, and black muscovies.. had to share their pixs either way

Very cute! I can't afford to get any drakes or else I might be intereted. Sorry.

So I was wondering if any of my chickens have those shiny green feathers or the gold edging that means they are boys? If so I'm in trouble and have 2 girls and 6 boys. These are the 2 i'm wondering about. The Silver one =boy?

The one on the far right =boy?

Only one in this picture that is female is the light buff one closest to the feeder?

I think I'm gonna have to separate my 2 hens and keep them in the coop to stay safe until I rehome all of these boys.

The only one in that group that looks like a pullet/hen to me is the light tan one. All the rest are showing boy feathers. (tails, saddle, hackle)

Animal cruelty is a felony in Texas. The I understand about the police, but in spite of them being limited to take action, they need to at least do a report to protect your interest if anything further happens. Maybe you could ask them what your rights are to take action against trespassers who are killing your pets and vandalizing your property if you catch them in the act. Hopefully your questions would provoke them into doing more.

Can you move the babies inside maybe a garage or laundry room until the vandals move on. I sure hope this works out for you. I'm so sorry you are going through this.
They are right behind my bedroom, which is pretty much a shed out in the back. The walls aren't very well insulated so I hear everything that goes on outside, but I've only recently started sleeping out there because the weather isn't too hot now. And when I say everything is heard, I mean every single little peep and scratch is heard lol.

So besides killing two of my silkie chicks for whatever reason, someone has also decided to cut my mom's pool liner. Dead chickens now this? Does anyone know the law about harming property and livestock here? The silkies got strangled last week, someone had took them out of my non-permanent cage and strangled them, leaving them in my flower beds. Now they're damaging property. I hope none of you guys have to deal with this.
Absolutely file a report. Even IF they won't do anything, you will have it on file in case something happens again.
That's so awful...
I also think the cameras are a good idea. NOT saying I would harm anyone, but Texas has some interesting rules about trespassing.
Maybe you should put up some signs too? You definitely don't want things to escalate. And if someone has the nerve to strangle an animal, that doesn't inspire much confidence. Someone stealing is one thing. Strangling a pet and leaving it in a flower bed seems more purposeful, and malicious.

I love this pic of my ladies' offerings!
Beautiful! What do you have for white layers?

Sorry to change the subject here guys but I'm in central Texas, do you think it's too late to incubate a batch of Cornish X?? My freezeres awfully light since I lost a clutch in the spring. I've got 10 dual purpose hatching today but I'd like to squeeze in another.

White eggs come from this lady. She was sold to me as an Ameraucana before I was versed in what one was. She's an EE that I'm assuming comes from one Black Australorp parent based on markings but she's scantily built & bearded like my other EE. I was confused by the white egg because Australorps are brown layers but if you lay her egg next to a truly white egg, it has the palest blue tint to it.... so shrug... She's pretty and a good layer. That's all that matters to me lol

You'd be into Thanksgiving before butcher time right? But central Texas isn't too cold...
I moved from Houston, where it was warm on Christmas, to Dallas, and it iced 3 times last winter, starting at the beginning of Dec.
I'm waiting til Spring for my meaties, but you could probably make it :)

She's so pretty! I have 2 Australorps that are about 3 weeks. They're supposed to be great birds.
I bet she has a great personality. Out of my girls, my Buff Orp definitely has the most..character lol
The only white layer I have is my daughter's Silkie...teeny eggs lol
