Texas

OK guys, let's see if we can put together "meet & greet" in the Huntsville, Conroe, Cleveland, Cut$Shoot area. What says all?????

Let's do it!! I will be at Conroe Trade days on May 3 2015. Hopefully I will have a booth showing off my run panels. I was going to build a coop/run to show off, but doesn't look like I am going to have the time. Right now I am building a coop/run, rabbit hutch/run with extended run, an extension to a run I built about 3 months ago, and a run to go inside a barn/chicken house. I have been blessed and am thankful for it. Cannot wait to meet you!!

Hi everyone! I'm from the North Texas area a small town called Ponder( southwest of Denton). I am now the proud momma of 8 baby chicks! Mabel is so cute!!! Anyway I just wanted to pop in and say hello!
Hi hi! Baby chicks are adorable! And addicting, be careful of the chicken math!

Welcome from Trinity!

Home of oops I accidentally fried 100+ quail today because I set my lamp to low not expecting it to get into the 90's!

This is not my lucky week with quail... Haha.

Great starter flock!
Sorry you cooked quail. :( I haven't ever had luck hatching my own. I was thinking maybe next year.

Maybe next week you will have better luck with quail. And at least they won't eat all the feed! :)

ETA Does anyone know what kind of chick stays a fuzz butt for a long time and is a giant yellow chick? I have two that I swear are as big as the ones I put outside but still haven't started feathering in. No clue on their age, or sex. Just a few orange feathers and mostly fuzz. They are easily the size of my fist and I am not a small lady.

We're still harvesting cabbage, kale, spinach, lettuce, and carrots from fall/winter gardening, although one cabbage is beginning to bolt... Potatoes, chives, asparagus (1st year), onions, garlic & strawberries are going strong. Our new peach tree and blackberries are in bloom. Corn is beginning to peek out (trying the 3 sisters this year). Yesterday I transplanted 13 tomatoes of 3 different varieties, 5 jumbo jalapenos, basil and cilantro. Squash, zuchini, cucumbers, melons, okra, kentucky wonderbeans and a few others coming soon. Propagated a few pear trees and some rosemary in pots. Irisis in bloom, marigolds and nastursiums beginning to make an appearance. An herb spiral and an outside bunny hutch yet to be built, permaculture style swales to be dug. I stay tired doing all this in the evenings after the day job, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I love this time of year! So do the chickens because they get lots of weeds, garden trimmings, and grubs that I dig up. I've actually been allowing them some supervised free range time, a first for me or them.

Wow this sounds great! I am trying to do a vegetable garden this year! Hubby is hoping to start a green house with hydroponics this summer! All of your fresh food sounds super exciting! My chicks have been loving all the fresh green growth!
