Yuck! Blondie has worms. In the 4 1/2 years I've been keeping chickens this is the first time I am dealing with worms, so I guess I should be grateful for that. After reading up on it, it sounds like the recent wet weather may increase the likelihood for chickens to get worms. Something about dormant worm eggs and wet conditions. Anyway I am treating her with Wazine in her water only. Wazine is what my local farm store had.
What are the best preventative measures to keep the chickens from getting worms in the first place?

Good news!! My Buff (Annie) is only broody when there are eggs in the nest box. I just have to get the eggs before she sees them in there, which is not an easy task. I am starting to think she thought this was the only dry place on Earth. We are actually starting to dry out a little around here. I may be able to mow in the next 2 days, but not sure.

I hear ya on that I set cement for fence posts on Sunday didn't even have to use the water hose when I set them and checked today they still aren't all the way dry!!!

@buckshank lots of your smaller, lighter breeds with larger combs will typically do the best in this climate. However, lots of heavy breeds do well with proper shade and air flow. We live in Trinity and have breeds of chickens from all over the world. The friendliest are the sex links and barred rocks. The best tempered in these climates are my Kraienkoppe and Lakenvelders. They don't seem to mind it.
