Texas

I understand completely. I am running a small hatch of Olive Eggets now to see how they turn out. Today is the canldeling day.

Hi folks! We just moved to Hewitt Texas from Missouri and we have 10 pullets and one rooster. We just started having chiggers problem a month ago and hating every single moment in our backyard. Any help/ideas to solve the chigger problem? Thank you all.
Welcome to Texas! I'm right around the corner from you in Waco. Nothing more to add on the chigger problem, just wanted to say hi.

Hi I'm in east Texas 20 miles north of Tyler. I have chickens but recently had cayuga(?) ducks dropped at my door. They are 12 weeks old now one crested female and One non crested male plus a few eggs which are hatching as I write. Unfortunately I am having cancer issues and need to find these babies a caring loving home. If interested please contact me.

Riicriroo I understand. I have a rare and incurable muscular dystrophy. The things I used to do become harder every day.

Sorry to hear that. This is my 4th go round and last September had a total colectomy (large intestine removal) Now I'm not sure what they're gonna do this time but know I can't take more on right now. I'm kinda known for taking in what needs taking in. That's how I got the Cayugas. Anyway, Hope all goes better for ya.

The sun is shining and I have blue skies!! I tried to mow yesterday but the ground is just soaked and then some. Maybe by Thursday or Friday I can do it IF we don't get anymore rain.
We've been sunny and dry for the last 3 days, woo hoo and not due again until Sat or Sun

Do y'all do anything for mosquitos? I have a broody duck in a dog house with about 1 million mosquitos hanging out with her. What is there to use around poultry for mosquitos?

Waco!! Nice. Thank you. So you live inside city limits? How many chickens/rooster do you have? Also do you happen to know if goat is allowed?
Thank you.
I do live in city limits although right on the edge. I have 5 buff orpingtons, 3 easter eggers, 4 barred rocks, 1 silver laced wyandotte, a dozen Icelandic hens, and for a few more days, about 8 Icelandic cockerels. I'm going to get down to one rooster. Technically, you're not supposed to have a roo within city limits, but they don't enforce it unless there's a formal complaint. I'm lucky to have great neighbors I also have close to 20 quail but plan to whittle that number down a little too. As for the goat, I'm not sure as I've never researched it but they're around for sure

Not much to loose by trying. Get rid of all the standing water that isn't 'moving' that you can. For the rest -mosquito 'dunks' -- about $9.99 for a package of 6 -- in the garden centers or beside insecticides or in camping at WalMart - TSC has them too...and maybe even the big box stores....
