Second day of being 100 degrees out. Good news is I finally got the mowing done. It took me 2 days and for the most part it is all done. YAY

Our house is on a block and beam foundation with lattice around the bottom. Guess where the chickens are? Yep, laying up next to the lattice feeling the cool air.

Thanks! If I can keep the barn cats out of the trap it will help. And on that heat ugh my house AC hasn't worked right in like 8 days. I feel really bad for my birds outside.

O no, you poor thing. I would die if our AC went out. I hope you can get yours to going again real soon.
I'm feeding mine crushed ice to keep them from laying hard boiled eggs

For real though, this heat is something else. My ducks are loving their frozen peas.

I know that when I was young (which was about last Thursday) the only places with AC were movie theatres, hospitals, some offices and some restaurants. Very few houses had or could afford AC units and some how we all lived and survived. I don't know how we did it.
NOt having A/C enables you to take more heat. Having A/C makes the heat feel much worse when you are in it. The body gets used to comfortable indoor temps -- and it makes the outdoor temps feel hotter.

We have done it to ourselves.... however -- it allows us to function when otherwise we would just sit around and sweat the summer away.

the part about when you were young that is, not the heat, lol. Growing up I competed in horse shows/playdays and rodeos. The playdays were all day long on Saturdays. Then after college it was softball tournaments all weekend long. I don't ever remember the heat being this hot

Hummmm, well I'm not going to give up my AC so I can take on more, lol.

Thanks, they came and fixed it today. Whole thing was froze up. Feels much better now.

On the other note got one coon last night but not before he got 3 chicks :( Going to reset the trap tonight to make sure there are no more and work on rewiring the brooder with hardware cloth instead of chicken wire I guess because there are seriously no holes he could have gotten in anywhere.

Thank goodness. I bet it does. Feel much better here if we still had our above ground pool.

So sorry he got them before you could get him. Hardware cloth is the only way to go for me. Chicken wire will keep poultry in but won't keep predators out.

there are no more, if so hope you get 'em.
