Yes, all baby animals are adorable when they are little, and hatchlings are no exception.

Cuteness is not really the best part for me (although, don't get me wrong, they're adorable)...I just love genetics, experiementing with ways to increase hatch rates, etc...more the tweaking process and the science-y bits :D. Plus, being part of bringing about life is awesome no matter the life. DH says no more kids or dogs so... lol

That is a nice area, I put in for Eden about a decade ago. The San Angelo area looked nice with lake Nasworthy. But, I am here in Livingston, and got a Lake here too. And I am retired. So, the only way I would move that direction is if my elderly parents went that way and my wife could get a job over there.

That is for sure. But, make sure you clip the feathers on one side, only where you can see sunlight through, or you might have some escape. I can only free range one coop at a time. Otherwise, there would be some horrendous cock fights.

I can identify. My wife doesn't like Chickens or Dogs. She was raised on 20 plus acres with nothing but a cat, which I think is sad. So, she is a cat person. Maybe because they are low maintenance. I, on the other hand, love birds and dogs. Now, that I am retired I have a down payment on the GSD litter not that far from me. I received all kinds of stern warnings, how she doesn't like dogs, won't have anything to do with the dog, and on and on. Fine with me. A large German Shepherd that loves only me is okay with me. I have already picked out his name. I told my wife, when he gets crate trained as a little tyke he will probably whine and cry at night at first. My wife, said, 'I am not getting up to deal with that.' I said, 'It's okay, I will sleep on the couch next to him and comfort him in the night like a baby.' I have been watching lots of training videos and the techniques seem simple. It is a matter of the puppy getting what it wants (treats) through behavior training. It all seems pretty logical.
