Welcome from Rosenberg!!!

the picture is of my blue barbu d'uccle hen and on back of her are my OEGB chicks
Thanks, I thought maybe that is what it was -- but I was curious. It's a pretty chicklen. You like bantams because they take less space than full size did you say? (or was that a different poster?) ---

For people who do have bantams -- how many eggs do you get, and what do you do with the eggs?

Yes i have like 15 in my run 8 of them are month and a half OE chicks and 2 older silkie chicks and i have one hen she is either a barred OE or barred rock she lays like an egg a day i just eat them or give them away they are smaller than regular size hen eggs so eating 2 would be like 1 regular size

Thanks I wondered about that. I only have 1 that is OEGB and she is pretty astonishing to me.
  • She is absolutely fearless -- and thus very easy to catch, while some of the full sized chickens run for their lives at the approach of human feet. --
  • She lays an egg every-other-day regularly but sometimes her shells are brittle and puncture upon being touched.
  • She has also gone from tinted/light brown to white shells.
  • She went broody and raised two chicks that have grown to full size now..
  • She's an excellent mama hen.

One pullet I have lays eggs about the same size...so maybe OEGB's are big for a Banty. I guess you could use them for cooking by either automatically doubling the number of eggs in the recipe -- or measuring the amount of eggs based on a formula. IMO they make very spiffy little hard boiled eggs. She bosses me around, reminds me if I forgot to give her meal worms and beat up other chickens when I tried to put her in a pen after her babies were larger than she is.... She would make a perfect pet - or show chicken -- if anyone wants a BBR OEGB feel free to PM me. She is a personality that won't quit -- but she needs her own housing and pen and being transported in and out every day....she's worth it -- but sometimes I get aggrivated being bossed around by a tiny chicken.

I asked her to go broody again, and gave her some full sized eggs -- but she decided she would rather go outside and play. (I may have also overestimated her capacity -- First time two eggs, this time I think I put 3 there and I think she is too small for 3. )
