Texas

I shot one the other day with a air rifle he was sniffing around my Ameraucana coop

Good for you!!

I have hawks, owls, turkey vultures, and caracaras. The vultures and caracaras don't bother me. I enjoy watching them float in the sky. The hawks and I (hopefully) have come to an understanding. hahaha--I kid myself!

Guys, be on the lookout for your fall predators. I walked into the coop yesterday morning and found this:

When I found her she was still alive.

Here is the predator:

Both have been disposed of by me.

We had one last winter get in with my ducks. We tried to get her and her juvenile to leave, the young one got out but the momma stayed. It took us NINE shots to kill her. One was directly to the brain and that stupid opossum was STILL alive!!! Be careful, they have a healthy set of teeth!

Mandy I am glad you got her! Thank you for stating it took 9 shots. It took me 5. Here I was thinking I needed to go to the range!

My son informed me the best shot is behind the brain. I told him it was kinda hard to do that since it was looking right at me.

Get you a 22 cal air rifle they don't go far after that. Plus they are nice and quite so you don't scare the chickens to much

I thought I would do another daily share of a Giant Cicada for you folks living north of San Antonio and Laredo. These things are still singing down here but I bet Fridays Cold front shuts em up. This is a cross post for me from another thread...again but since I was forced to learn how to upload a video to youtube I didn't want the effort to go to waste.
