Now THAT is nice!!!

A suggestion: Don't use chicken wire across the top. It will rust and can get expensive. I used heavy fishing line for the top of my pen. I have a regular cobweb over my pen.

I wonder if you could use a longline for enhanced predator proofing? Not a real suggestion just was a thought that popped in.

BTW anyone interested in some Black Sumatras before they go to someones crockpot in deep south Texas can feel free to contact my via craigslist they are free to any home https://brownsville.craigslist.org/zip/d/3-black-sumatra-rooster/6475448237.html .
They aren't viable for breeders with my hens, combs and wattles are off coloured and they do not have good dispositions and are showing man hating ideations. Feel free to take them off my hands. They have been great against the predators but now it seems they feel spring is here and are harassing my hens entirely too much, plus of course me.

There are so many ideas here on BYC. I would definitely build & not buy prefab. Our first coop years ago was similar to the Kerr Center chicken tractor. I loved it! When we sold our house, the buyers wanted the coop & hens.
Last year, we used an old goat trailer to make a chicken tractor. I'm not as happy with it but will continue to use during the summer. So this winter, we built a stationary coop & it's working great. When you start your build, start a thread. We could follow along & offer advice/answer questions as needed. Have fun with it. I loved looking for discounted material for our build. We have a goodwill builders surplus in Fort Worth, Home improvement stores clearance or opened/damaged packages, friends & neighbors remodel left overs/getting rid of, 5-mile/let go apps.

Update on the Black Sumatra roos they got rehomed this morning. Wow the silence here is almost deafening having no roos on the property or on the porch poking their heads inside to make noise. I'm not going to miss all the squabbles they always seemed to be in the middle of though.

Certainly also am not going to miss the shoulder dropping either or they knowledge they were always plotting against me, nor will I miss getting hit from behind on rare occasions. I will miss those beautiful long tails and watching them fully mature.

Hi! It's been a while since I've been on the forums. How's everyone doing? My main rooster, Mr. Feathers turns 8 years old next month. What's the longest chickens tend to live? He doesn't live with the main flock anymore as the younger roosters started beating him up. Fortunately, he is an awesome nuturer, so he is ruling the nursery/infirmary coop. He does great raising the chicks for me, and if there's a hurt hen, he won't breed her if she says no!

On another note, the farm store that I was selling my eggs to decided to restructure and go with a single egg supplier. I've got 60 chickens and now I'm at a loss at how to sell all the eggs that we're getting! Any ideas?

I am glad you found someone so fast. Lol I even went to your posting to see how they look, then saw this post. I had and adopted roo manhater here too. Gave him to a neighbor, just rarely had problems with him. He just didn't like men. Anyway, yes, you'll find peace. Have a good night.
