Depressing news. The ambulance is here for my neighbor again. This Covid stuff is getting depressing.
Yes sir it is. I've already got several Statistics the covid-19-mare has etched on its belt... connected to me. Recent deaths, current sick as hell and still struggling to recover......

That's always scary, whether you're on good terms with said neighbors or not. I'm just so glad we moved out here to the country back in 18. 43 years in a subdivision in Suburbia and now Dad is living with me out in the middle of nowhere. Nearest town is 15 miles away. Nearest neighbor is about 3/4 mile and there's only 5 of us on this dead end road. Dad is 87 this year, so it makes me feel better that his risks are pretty low. We don't leave the property much, but once a week for egg deliveries and shopping.

I'm not feeling fully "engaged" today. I'm filling out the kiddos return to school forms for this year..... My parents never had that to deal with in either Michigan or California when I was K-12 (70's & 80's).

The packet is a 16 page PDF (X3) that when printed only needs about half printed..... I still have 3 in school......

Uugh. (Pulls up my boot straps, gets up... (Pauses to stretch) .... Goes to PC to be responsible and adult-like to deal with those forms...... And eventually turn them in later today "in person")

I am fully engaged in getting some breakfast tacos in 30 minutes, letting the chicken out and putting out feed. Not looking forward to the totally eaten by mosquitoes bit, but the tacos will help. I can't believe I no longer have mosquito spray after a hurricane and add on rain events. I am stocking up on that stuff when I can find it in a store again. Then it is back into bed for a nap to sleep off the effects of the Dengue fever I'll probably get.

Regarding the breakfast tacos I should get a double order so I can freeze in my next meal due to apathy towards the everything else bits like mowing the lawn.

So this week was my first collection for trash service since December. By the end of this month I will have emptied all of the wine/beer/glass/tin cans I cant drop to the recycling center or burn. I signed back up for three months, next time stop/restart service I will know better.

I did a major burn yesterday anyways and looking at the pit after noticed my wife is having trouble with the burn bag concept I have about 40 or so tin cans to dig out of the pit.
Later EDIT
Yeah paying $1+ dollar a day for a trash can we barely use was just getting old. Oh well 3 months of not having to manage garbage will be nice.

We never burn. We recycle what we can. Chickens get scraps. We have a yearly dump permit ($25) and will load vehicle and dump maybe every 2 months. Going today. Dump is on our regular drive to town so it is convenient and accessible.

@RebelChief this is an example of a leaning type of cactus that I am currently growing out 2 cuttings of if you are interested. They were in full bloom yesterday after our large rain event. Lovely but fleeting today I drove past and there were only a few blooms left. This photo is of another neighbors one my cuttings aren't even forming new nodes yet.

Late edit, in disheartening news my County of just over 400k people are not doing a good job at knocking down these corona virus numbers. Friday saw 17 deaths alone.

So today sucked. I wanted my special made fajitas for lunch and called at 10:30am for the 11:15 run of them. They gave me the run of the mill fajitas with bell peppers that make me burp it up all day. I am just upset that my "El Gringo" status is diminished in some way now at my corner store that they would serve me regular fajitas instead of the ala Mexicano style ones. C'mon it is just flank steak with rotell in a flour tortilla how hard can that be? The tortillas though were perfectly toasted and fresh and the food was too hot to handle. The salsa verde made everything better. I did get all North Texan about it and the second one needed sour cream. Yep I sinned.

I have never eaten tortillas as good as what we have here in my little corner of Texas.

Todays taco report says it will be a long and dreary week ahead. Sorry guys my tortillas didn't get toasted so are dough like. They did get my order right so that is a plus, but no chance to unroll these to get some salsa in there. I'll just freeze in the second one as they overstuffed them as well. They made my breakfast like Wise County tacos nothing as good as Travis or Bexar Counties.
