Sounds like you've described a very oversized "dumb waiter".Hmmmm
Had a weird/different experience this morning.
We went recliner shopping, in Brenham, an OLD family business in an old building. Got a good deal on a lazy boy. But, the recliners are downstairs in this place. 6 very narrow steps a landing, then 6 more steps down. The main floor, bedroom suites are on 2nd floor.
I found out how they move furniture around!
When we were ready to leave basement the salesman said he would meet us upstairs and he would send a man down on the freight elevator to get us so we wouldn't have to climb stairs.
He did. BIG husky guy shows up and takes to the elevator.
I kid you not, I have never ever seen anything like it. Neither had my partner.
It was a brick lined chute spanning all 3 floors. Wooden floors and a wooden back wall. A handle to hold on too.
Manual ROPE pulled elevator. Big wheel at the top of chute. Big guy starts pulling rope and up we went to main floor. He said it had been use 113 years.
I stood there mouth hanging open while he pulled rope.
Welcome to byc! Lots of knowledgeable friendly folks around. Rain and fix leaks (only way to find the leak unless you use waterhose) or a firehoseI'm good with no rain. Our run still has mystery leaks, and it makes for a miserable day when we have wind AND rain. Then again, hubby only does upgrades when there's something wrong, so maybe a bit of rain would help us see where we need to fix things... *ambivalent at 3:30 AM*
