Texas

Yay people, I am back - power, water, internet- hallelujah.. No water for a few days. Boiled snow for the animals and melted it for flushing. Did take an occasional spit bath. Yesterday I finally got internet and wifi back after a week- talk about withdrawal - no social media, no streaming movies or shows, no checking the weather reports, no kindle books, no internet games on my phone. Today, I ran water in my big pots and boiled it for dishes- used a little bleach in the rinse water, finally mopped my floor too. Will be glad when I can take a full on hot soaky bath with hair wash. I guess I could, but it does not seem sanitary yet - if tap water is full of bacteria, can it be good to sit on your skin? Still drinking bottled water though. They recommend boiling water til the end of the week at least.
The weather is beautiful though- sun shining, mid 50's already. The wind is blowing, but not too blustery. The chickens are out and about dust bathing and pecking. Life is good.
Camping style wash cloth bath in the kitchen sink? Why not?

This is Lily, a Malti-poo puppy and Coco the White Roo', and Big Gray Roo' in left side of other pic.... These screenshots from the mini video I snapped today... For a few days before the cold snap, a day during & now this weekend... The puppies have found the "rabbit holes in the fence (the kiddos created with the weed whacker carelessly a couple years ago)... And wandered in with the chickens to no reactions at all from the flock. Today was a different story... Lily littereally ran circles around Coco playing and big Gray was like "what are you two doing?"

You can see one of the "rabbit holes" between the pipe threads and her left side paws.

So electricity wise we faired okay last few weeks. But my local breeder obviously had very frozen eggs. I gave up on my original breeder because shipping eggs overnight(which I didn't know people did? Eggs have always been shipped to me 2 day) was just insane in cost. So frozen eggs at my new breeder. Weather starts going up and boom, covid exposure. Husband gets tested today. But I think it'll be positive. Unless we both miraculously got the flu within 3 days of being exposed to covid 🙃 I'm so tired of waiting to turn on my incubator 😭

I'm so incredibly jealous of 1 that girl, and 2 that she's broody. She's gorgeous.
She is a week early. We are going out of town in 3 weeks. I needed her to wait one little week. So she is sitting on golf balls for the next 5 days.

I usually get one broody a year. She is a pullet so worried if she will stick. Spring has sprung.
