She is a week early. We are going out of town in 3 weeks. I needed her to wait one little week. So she is sitting on golf balls for the next 5 days.

I usually get one broody a year. She is a pullet so worried if she will stick. Spring has sprung.

Barnyard surprise pullet. Part Ayam Cemani out of a brown egg. Buddy who I got the eggs from has a mixture in his yard. She got the melanistic comb, eyes and wattles but with white face and chest. Her sister has a red comb and everything else is black. These girls are more skittish than a Leghorn. That was my first clue. She stuck to the nest, but when I went to collect eggs, she was gone. She slept on the nest last night, but jumped off when the coop was opened and ate. I'm hopeful she will stick with it, but another reason not to get eggs immediately.

The Ayam Cemani rooster was nice and then started to attack the wife and had to go. Fine with everyone else. He has an Easter Egger rooster now. Strictly hobby and keeps chickens for fun.

I secretly love ayam cemani mixes. So that explains it. I have a goal of ayam cemani polish mixes. They look so metal with their black mohawks.

I've seen them in person but I don't have any pics of a cool one. Just of my friends rooster. Which is not exactly a pretty boy

Black Bart, this one's father, was impressive. Large full single comb. Decent plume of a tail. To bad he had a sucky attitude. He was impressive and delicious.

Boil a pot of water.

Been boiling water for dishes and animal water and spit baths in the bathroom sink. What I want is a full length lay in the tub hot water up to my nose soak. Maybe today.

I wish I could trade one of our polish Roo's for a Polish hen or even pullet... Heck I'd also trade for a couple actual other mixed pullets at this point. I lost so many last year & 1/2.....

I actually found a polish pair in town. If I can get them to do porch pick up was considering getting them and incubating a few of their eggs until I can finally get the eggs I wanted from the local breeder. Would give me a leg up, plus I was already planning on ordering polishes anyways. So gives me a bit more variety of colors as well. You're only like an hour and a half away aren't you? Could trade some polish for some jersey in the future ?
