Texas

I saw 2 sets of eyes last night. I heard a ruckus, shined light from porch. Ruckuscontinued, sounded like a mad trapped coon. It was.

Warning- very graphic photo. Sorry.
Well, this morning I went to check my chickens. One was missing. I found several piles of her feathers and found her carcass behind the vibernum bushes Next to the privacy fence about 15 ft. away. The head was intact but the meat on the neck was devoured as was most of the meat on her body. I saw her enter the coop with the others last night and there is no sign of her leaving it this morning so the attack had to happen last night. What could have done it?

Wow! Well, any sign of access to coop? Broken wire, digging?
Are you sure she was in coop if so, something breached your security.....
I Saw her go in last night. Coop looks fine. I have motion detection lights at the entry to the coop and a camera mounted on the patio facing the coop and yard. I can’t access the times between 5:24 and 5:58 AM. The recording just jumps back to 05:00. When I get to 5:59 I can see the other hens in the yard, not Margaret. So I have to assume it happened in that time. Would you think it was an owl?
