3 babies, I scooped the shells out and set mama back down. She's definitely VERY protective and tried to bite me. Still 3 eggs to go.

Hmm yeah, there were several domestic ducks, swimming around. Must have been dumped at some point

Spent the morning cleaning coop.
Moved mama and her babies to the ground, then thoroughly cleaned all the nest boxes. She was so happy on 5he ground, dig her a 3 ft deep hole and had a good dust bath. The other girls and interested in babies, but keeping their distance. Lippy the rooster is acting fatherly, observant, and protective.

First sign of raccoons last night.
I think chirpy babies got their attention.
I went out about midnight, flashlight showed 3+ sets of eyes.
Shot 1 largest and others scattered.
Gonna drag out live trap and be vigilant.....
I feel run and coop are secure, however sh#t happens, and then you step in it. I realize NO COOP IS PREDATOR PROOF.
I'll do the best I can, work for the best and prepare for the worst.
