When I was in vet tech school (many moons ago) one of my professors showed us a cool way to kill them, we used an insulin needle and filled it with peroxide and would inject a little into each tick, they would explode and pop right off. That's the best experience I have with ticks 🤣
Now this is poetic justice if ever I have seen or heard of…

Well, I thought the Ayam cemani were kinda hard to obtain (rare?).
So how was this one running wild in town? Strange.
They were expensive. Then got popular. Now are everywhere and the price crashed. Lots of backyard breeders trying to make bank. The early ones did OK, from what I heard.

Oklahoma’s mad scientist’s spawned this a little while ago… about 30 minutes ago it’s “out flow” has finally settled down after 25-35 sustained and gusts well above it too… now tons of lightning & thunder….. and heavy rain just started to dump!

Yeah hit us around 945, with about 70mph+ and it blew over our coop (prob 600lbs) like it was a leaf.

Husband managed to right it and put ducklings back in the run part. Praying none are injured.

Wishing I could rescue them all and bring them inside to the garage or shop but too dangerous to go out there 😭😭😭

Oh and had a surprise show up at the Vet visit… it had not gotten to burrow into his skin yet. I thought it was a chunk of dirt stuck to his hair….. like the sand burr I had pulled out a few seconds earlier…. Y’all keep and eye out for these nasty nuggets this season!

The Vet sent it off to a friend of hers doing current research on Tics across the US this year….
As a vet assistant, highly recommend a product called Simparica trio, does fleas, 5 types of ticks and heartworm all in a once a month chewable tab.

Glad it got plucked out before it burrowed in!
