Texas

Pressures falling here already, it started misting rain about 5:30am. They...(WX forecasters) are predicting severe storms, large hail and possibly tornados, late tonight and into Friday morning. High suppose to be in the mid 50's on Friday! Suppose to be in the 80's today.

Don't think we will get a freeze or a frost but cold enough to have a fire.

When oh when will winter end?

They are teasing us again…

How 'big' is their box?
Huge for 1 day olds.
Tinsy for 3 week olds.
An 18 gallon storage container so 18"x30"

They are outside in the 5'x5' chicken tractor talking to the rest of the flock and getting acquainted. They spent their first night out last night. And it's getting cool again. And going to rain. First batch without a broody in a year. Glad to see the feathering going strong.

The Silkie is stupid. Hoping for a hen. The only reason for this hatch was a gifted silkie egg. Not for me, but for friend. Friend has trouble keeping them. That's what got me started. I mean, how hard can keeping chickens be?

One of my feral games went broody around March 1st. I marked 3 eggs and left her alone. I have 6 nest boxes, stacked 3 and 3. She in bottom middle nest. Yesterday, she moved to the first nest.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.......
Picked her up, she had 6 eggs under her.
NONE MARKED.
I guess I had a visitor, probably a snake. So she started over. Gonna start giving her some supplemental protein, she's been sitting 17 days now, and I know broody is hard on them
