What a handsome guy! I'm sorry about your loss! I didn't think he was that big but my hubby got a wild hair one day and came walking out of the house with my digital scale from our bathroom and weighed himself, I said wth are you doing, he replied with I'm curious...whatever...and went about my garden revamp. Next thing I hear the ladies having a fit, look up and my hubby has Klaus cornered and picked him up (he never messes with the chickens) again, wth are you doing, I got the same response as he walked to the scale again...men

I cannot laugh too hard. That's what I do.

If you like backyard mixes, and I can't resist them, I don't think you can get a better mix than an orpington and a brahma.
This boy is his son. He is the smartest rooster that I've ever had.

I'm going to want to but I have chicks on the way and broodies and eggs in an incubator. Bro going is a voice of reason coming along. I'll be getting equipment tho. I'll take pictures and get cards or names, phone numbers and emails so I can get hatching eggs that are not so far away.

If I go, I know I'd bring home birds! I see some pretty irresistible chickens listed.
I've been thinking of building a duck house too. I'm a little afraid hawks would pick them off, though. And, We have so much water, that I'd probably have a hard time getting them in at night.

Nothing wrong with bringing them home. I always go, only wanting what I need if I'm planning on bringing something home. The only surprises were the Araucanas.

I don't normally look at them, but I'm sure some quality birds are there.

Hi all, does anyone happen to know which hatchery supplies D and L in N. Texas? I bought a couple of silver laced wyandotte pullets (presumably) from the D and L in Sanger, but it didn't occur to me that there are significant differences in feather lacing between the breeders and hatcheries. I'll still love them just the same. Just curious as I know Ideal and Meyer supply the Atwoods and Tractor Supply near me.
