Texas

Updated photos. These guys are growing up beautifully. I am trying to rehome them so I don't have to dispatch of them. I have tried this site, all my community boards on FB and another site that I cannot remember the name of. My girls need them gone and Rooster Cogburn is running around like a maniac trying to keep them in check. I am giving them until week 20, then I will have to do what I desperately do not want to do.
Where in Texas are you? I know a guy who has a rooster flock. He isn't online but I can pass along your information, if you aren't too far away.

I moved from Colorado Springs to Carrollton six years ago and am finally ready to start my new flock. I'd rather find chicks from someone on BYC than get them from a feed store.

Does anyone in the DFW area have a few chicks that they could sell to me? I'm looking to start with only three birds.
I don't know anyone in the area that sells, but that's less than 3 hours from Gilmer. You could pick some up there, at the expo, next Saturday. @ColtHandorf will be there. He has posted a thread on it.

I'm in Klondike and have some started birds available.

I’m on the NW outskirts of Denton. And I dig what @ColtHandorf is doing. I had no plans to let my broodies spawn this spring but, I might late summer? Things change & life happens.

ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR!
stay watchful.

Well I been busy. Monday night let cats in. I have them mostly trained. Call, they come; I let them in, reward them with can catfood. So they usually are right by food bowl. Monday, no Bubba by bowl. He has hidden in the closet. I pick him up, he growls, UT oh! Huge swelling right side of face, mouth. Took collar off(scared he was gonna choke). Off to vet we go.
Snakebit, vet seems to think bite went thru cheek, and venom injected in mouth 😳.
Pain meds, antibiotics. He slept all day yesterday, swellings down, I think he'll be ok

Had a yellow bellied water snake on the back porch eating toads. Out of bed, at dark, me in shorts and sandals and water snake looked like a Moccasin. After it coiled and struck at the dogs, dead snake. Stupid dogs. But they were protecting us. Glad we didn't have to run to vet for antivenom. I usually take the water snakes back to the water when they come up in the yard, if I'm not half asleep, bleary eyed with a dog trying to protect me.

That and I've got chicks on the ground. Glad the cat will be fine. Now to see where the snake is or if it was passing through.

I hope he recovers quickly!
I saw a water snake a couple of days ago. I couldn't believe they are already out!
