I'll be setting the BCM eggs tomorrow and probably call that my last dealing with chicks this year.
We need new blood for the flock. My buddy with the other rooster just got with me and I'm not willing to deal with chicks either. So maybe a fall hatch? I can hope someone goes broody so I don't have to chase chicks. While I'm not thrilled with the idea of feather footed Brahmas in this gumbo mud, I'm will to try it. Should be a good dual use breed.

The quail are about to start laying, so eggs won't be on short supply until the January pullets start pulling their share.

We have a plan.

I got lucky with the last 2 sets, they were broody raised, my serial broody dahlia is thinking about it so 🤞 this all pans out, lol.

I got me a couple of Buff Orpington roosters to add some new genetics to my flock. Gives me 3 roosters. 2 Buffs and 1 Buckeye. My Buckeye is still a breeder, but he lost his brother a couple months ago.

I also got 2 Buff pullets, 2 Golden Sexlink pullets, 2 White Legbar pullets, and 2 Lavender Wyandotte pullets. Not to mention the 9 pullets that are the buckeye's daughters that will be joining the flock.

Does anyone know of any Poultry Auctions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area? I am closer to Fort Worth, but I am wanting to find auctions.

Also, do chickens have to be PT tested before I sign them up for the auction? Or can they do testing at the auction. I have seen mixed information on that. I have seen some about taking paperwork for them and I have seen some things about them testing the poultry there and adding the cost onto how much you pay for being in the auction.
