First near 'freezing night' for the month, 33°F 🥶 Hope everyone is doing great this cold morning!
I have a rack of bananas hanging. I don't want a freeze this year. These bananas just flowered so are no where near ripe.

I think it's been 3 years since homegrown bananas.

Stay warm and hope for a green Christmas!

It's time to think about meat bird orders. My buddy wants to raise a few this spring and we need new blood for the layer flock.

This means I need to fix the chicken tractor/broody mobile to raise chicks. One hen usually goes broody over New Years. I wonder if she will this year.

My flock finally started going to bed this week. I guess they just needed it to be "cold". 63F and rainy was bad enough for them not to stay on their covered outdoor perch. I think the nights and mornings that got down into the 30s and 40s was enough to slow down their egg production, but that's quite alright by me. We've got 8 dozen in the fridge, another dozen on the counter and still eating quite a few every day. Probably gonna feed them some eggs for the extra protein again this weekend.

Woot woot 🙌
