Oh my goodness that wind. I have a bunch of torn tarps now!

Setting quite a few eggs for Easter about a week early due to eBay purchases. Let's see, eight white Ameraucana, eight chocolate Ameraucana, eight project color Ameraucana and eight Schijndelaar.

Had to pull one chocolate Ameraucana for weeping after one day in the incubator. Sigh.
I'm gonna set some of my own today, not sure on fertility, so we're gonna find out.

Installation of our metal "shack" (25'x21') completed last week but turns out the caliche base was not level, despite assurances from dirt man :rant Now waiting on call-backs from other dirt folks so material can be added/tamped down to finish inside and continue working on this project so we can use it! Seems everything turning to $__ this year, especially the weather...But my 3 hens are laying nice eggs!

Spring projects in full swing now that the weather is nice & the ground is dry.

Bought 15 chicks. Lost 2 to trample/failure to thrive. 2 escaped & died of exposure during a cold snap. Found them after work. Then another 2 just disappeared. I’m blaming the dogs but they deny everything. 9/15 is a little worse than average but i didn’t buy extra because i don’t lose any when I get extra. 😑

Life is grand!
