Just wanted to say Hi from the Cleveland area. 45 miles north of Houston. I have a flock of 6-9 week olds, GLW, BR,3 pearl guineas, 1 RIR pullet, 2 week old cochin, 2 polish, 1 lavender guinea, 1 mystery chick and 10 SLW eggs...lol We had a bit of rain today, just enough to make tomorrow miserable, but the wind and cooler temps felt good for a while. The youngens in the coop sure enjoyed it....Just getting started in chickens, so I love to hear tips and tricks.

The last few posts were mostly about the heat. I'm guessing that since you're close to Houston you've been getting the heat and the humidity!

So sorry to hear that. My coop is luckily in deep shade, but the little guys still suffer. I even have people come by to check them during the day while I'm at work. So many people are losing their chickens to the heat....so frustrating.

So sorry this has happened to you. I read lack of water . If you have only one water er provided I would recommend adding more waterers. I have a minimum of two & even three waterers in my coops. I have read that without water animals can die in one hour especially in this heat. Another reason for extra waterers is just in case one gets knocked over or the bottom comes off & water gets drained out.​

It's raining at 7L it started yesterday evening. The wind was howling & I rounded up all the chickens & got them in the coop. That was a relief because the wind was blowing at least 50 miles an hour. Then the rain started. As you might guess it stopped. I woke up to more rain hitting my tin roof. We are now getting some much needed rain. Anyone else getting some rain. I'm near Navasota.

It is raining in cleveland. It rained enough to put about an inch of water in a container out in the yard. I think it's about done now.
