great new Henry! Howdy to everyone!!!

I'm going to start giving my girls catfish food as a treat. One of my chicken buddies says she gives her catfish pellets as treats and she hasn't noticed a different in their laying. I'm only getting about 3 - 5 eggs a day (with 15 laying hens

) . So I'm really hoping the catfish food helps. (it's supposed to be about 32% protein).

I've been hanging out a lot over at BYH and those guys are great and all - but it's always nice to come back home :)

My garden is pretty much done.

We've started the roof on the teenager coop. Got it ripped down last week and have the new frame up. I'm not real sure how it's going to work . . . I really should just rip the whole thing down and start over - but I'm not gonna

GOOD DEAL GAMZ! Those guys are awesome! They know alot of OT info as they aquired their shop from a really old timer! Lol hey he was stil workin the shop at 80 back 15 yrs ago! I havent been to them in about 10 yrs since i was away doin my mil thing. But i came back and there they are still runnin the shop! Hope you got a biz card! Any Q's you may have they may be able to help! If you need their # let me know and ill get it to you!

Wow thanks for letting me know that. Very interesting about the old timer. Yeah I got their card. RIR is eating and finally seen her drinking today. I had been giving her food that was really soaked because I was starting to worry she wasnt drinking that much. She even played in the water with her beak for a while. Made me laugh, she acted like it was something new and a treat. She took her a dust bath. I gave her a deep pan with sand in her cage. She is cleaning her feathers again. I still am not too excited about leaving her tomorrow to go to Houston. DH better give her med and soft food while I am gone.

PS. I didn't find any canker in her throat unless it is in her trachea. She doesn't have problems breathing. Seen a little yellow under her tongue, not much. When I wiped it with a q tip, it came off and was soft. That was Monday. She didn't get her first dose until that afternoon. Her tongue was a little swollen but seemed like it was coming from under her neck. No yellow today and swelling under neck is going down. Doesnt have any other symptoms. She loves fried eggplant. Gave her some yesterday that was soggy and she chowed down. Guess she didnt want to be tube feed again. I tubed feed her yesterday morning. Today she was eating some scrambled egg, some crumbles and some watered down bread. So far, keeping fingers crossed, none of the others are showing any signs of it. If it isn't canker, I wonder if she injured herself under her tongue somehow. Thanks again for helping me locate the fish zole.

Celebration! I found student at a local private school who's family raises chickens that wanted them. The roosters are going to a much better place than even I can provide here. Good things still happen.

So happy that you were able to find a good home for them. I know I have 3 baby Roos, possibility of a pre teen roo and a 5 month old roo that is still healing from a dog attack. He is starting to get his feathers back on his neck. It is the neighbors but all his chickens think my yard is their home. Don't think I will ever be able to let mine free range with the hormones of the pre teen roo. Maybe, one day he will make an adequate pen for them.

Welcome back. Interesting about the catfish food. Would like to know how it works out. We had to reinstall tin to a shed for our coop. It was a pain but better than starting with nothing. Run wasn't hard to do except for hanging and stapling the wire on top. Hard to keep it tight. Took thin wire and wired the joints together. Your teenagers will enjoy it when it is finished and so will you. Next time I built a coop and run, it will be in the winter or fall. The heat was so bad when we did ours.

Hi Texas,

I'm in NY but the family is in Texas. They want me to find someone who sells eggs in Texas for them. They live in "the Woodlands" so the closer the better. The grandson loves Grampas chickens and eggs. He just turned one and it's his first experience with chickens. They try to feed him organic foods mostly, but I can't afford organic but I do pasture my chickens

so if you have a backyard flock and sell eggs please send me an e-mail.

Thanks, Rancher
