Hi I’ve always thought that rir where better layers than black austrolops but then I found this! Is it true? This is a thread for when you see something online about chickens your not sure about. Just post a screen hot and wait for the answers!

It is indeed true. A Black Australorp holds the record for most eggs laid in a year.

That said not every single Australorp will out lay every single RIR.

One did hold a record for quite sometime.

I'll add that I've met more aggressive RIR males than I have BAs.

These sorts of generalizations are almost completely useless. It really boils down to the specific line of birds that you're talking about if you're interested in performance factors like egg laying or growth rate, etc. This applies to other traits as well, really... such as temperament, etc.
