Thanks for everyone's advice here. I am finished with the coop with the exception of a rollout nest box. That will be done in the next few weeks. They are not laying yet.

Next project is to insulate my garage, add a ceiling, and turn it into a woodshop.

My questions is, will the airflow venting from the chicken coop through the soffets into the "attic" pose any problems?

Should I cut off the airflow into the wood shop and just add gable vents for the coop?

Thanks!

I would be afraid of ammonia buildup for you in the other room? I can't really tell what's going on with the drawings, but, make sure there is no ammonia buildup from the poop that will get to you.

There is a ceiling in other room, separating it from 'air flow' space.

Yes there will be a ceiling and insulation. So I imagine all the chicken dust accumulating on top of the insulation will become a problem at some point? Perhaps I should cut of the air flow and install Gable vents for the coop?

Just make sure it is vented well to the outside, not to another inside area where you don't want dust. I'm not sure what insulation you are talking about the accumulating dust becoming a problem. It will accumulate on any surface but why is on the insulation a problem?

Because insulation covered in chicken dander will start to stink and not function as intended, contrary to how some install batting unsulation it not supposed to be squished down , not a good idea to vent on building into another ,

I know my basement bathroom is vented into my laundry room !! Brilliant design I know Wedid not do that !!?

Probably should have eave and gable vents in coop area anyway.

Is coop area already open to attic above shop?
Not sure I'd bother closing that off, but wouldn't bother opening it either.

Impossible to tell just how much coop dust would end up in attic anyway,
unless you plan on attic access from shop and can assess and adjust down the road,
or if it would be detrimental.
