Thanksgiving Day Hatch, anyone?

I have a bunch (read too many) of Silkie eggs and some Marans, hopefully a blue one but we will see. Hmm, all my Thanksgiving guests may have to bring home some Silkie chicks if I actually get them to hatch.

Wow, we've got quite a few hatchers on Thanksgiving. I put mine in last night, not realizing when hatch day would be. Well I'm sure not going to take them out or leave them on the table for another day or two. Maybe my 13 Welsummers will come a day early, LOL.

If you're hatching shipped eggs, it's best to let them sit for several hours to settle and acclimate to warmer temps. If your hatching freshly layed eggs or ones you carried home, those can go right in the bator.

Well I could have just let me sit another day or two, then put them in the incubator. That would have allowed hatch day to be on the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Waiting 21 days is hard enough. Who wants to wait 22-23 if you don't have too, LOL.

I got 13 Welsummer eggs from AussieSharon. They are really dark beautiful eggs. Kelley, do you have any Welsummer's now or will these hatchlings be your first?

I had some hatch around Halloween, now Thanksgiving (maybe Veterans day in between) ...next I'll have to try for Christmas!

Well, I have some eggs due on the 29th, but I have a baby pygmy goat due on the 27th, or maybe 2 of them. Depends on whether she is pregnant with twins or not. So that is pretty exciting, even though it isn't exactly a hatch. It's still a Thanksgiving baby. We are definitely having TG at our place, and if we have to leave the dinner table to go birth a goat, so be it!

After reading this post I had to go look and I have golden laced wyandotte & Golden duckwing oegb eggs to hatch on Thanksgiving day.......

I guess I get out of going to my in-laws......
