Thanksgiving Hatch- Anyone want to join in?

murphy's law says things can not go as planned....
UGH.... my little ice chest is not wanting to hold steady... trying to figure out if i want to try to fix this one, or make up another real quick.. i think this lightbuld base is hotter than the other one i used adn it's melting the hole around it bigger letting air escape...

i think i'm gonna have to make a new one tonight...

oohhhh has anyone seen plans for a cabinet style incubator that has 2 doors, and one side has lockdown shelves, and the other side has a brooder on the bottom and shelves above with turners??
this might be something to try to organize..
and make it a pretty cabinet that could be a piece of living room furniture....
rofl... a brooder made to look like an old fashioned tv would be funny too...

i need to get a job so i can build all this stuff...

Well, if I set these eggs today I could very well be candling them Thanksgiving day...can that count?

So as I was sitting here reading duckluck's post in her thread, It suddenly dawned on me that I was listening to a chick in the incubator! It is one of my buckeyes that I salvaged from a young broody that gave up housekeeping. MY very first buckeye from my girls!, I wasn't sure how far along the egg was when I stuck it in the incubator with my longcrowers. That means my other broody should be hatching anytime , too!

Candled a day early since it's not dark enough in the room I have the bator during the day (locking down tomorrow). So far so good with the remaining 37 eggs, ALL have appropriate progress for this stage and I only had questionable on 6 of them just because I can't see much through the shells other than overall dark/light sections.

Actually, why not a brooder made OF an old fashioned tv? You sometimes see old console televisions at thrift stores and yard sales. It might be cheaper than buying the parts to make a cabinet to look like a tv.

UGH! I candled tonight, we go into lockdown tomorrow. I am down to only 8 eggs! So sad. I am still so excited!!! I can't wait for these little ones to greet the world. It's like Christmas morning! I am hoping to find some bantam cochin and bantam buff brahma eggs here in CA that I can pick up for my next hatch and see if I fair any better.

I am on lockdown. Let the waiting begin I have moved 7 black silkie eggs...

I candled last night and locked down 9 of my barnyard mix eggs, 3 silkies, and 10 seramas. keeping my fingers crossed and really hoping all of them hatch out a day early. i just found out that we have 3 places to be on Thanksgiving all around the same time and about 100 miles apart. ugh... good hatching to all of you on lockdown and congrats to all of you who have had chicks hatch. can't wait to see all the pics when this is all over
