Hello! I recently ordered 3 ducks and was surprised when I opened my box to find a 4th baby bird staring at me. It was definitely not a duck! 😂 I confirmed with the place I ordered my ducks from that they definitely did not give me a random chicken (they don’t even carry chicks that look like this). We are both pretty sure the post office found a loose chick and put it in my box. She looked pretty dehydrated the first day she arrived.

When she first arrived:

Any idea on breed and gender so far? The breed I originally thought it was is not matching up at all now that she has some feathers.

Oh wow! That indeed is a surprise! Do you have any other chickens?

Looks like a Brown Leghorn or Welsummer to me. Won't really know for sure until she/he is quite a bit older.

Wow, that must have been quite the surprise! Did you contact the post office?

The juvenile feathers can change, especially in chipmunk babies, I've found. Glad she's doing okay and has survived her ordeal!
I haven’t called them! I believe it was probably early on in their journey because local post office doesn’t regularly have birds coming through it.

And very good to know about the juvenile feathers! I keep look at adult pictures of the few breeds I thought it could be and nothing is looking 100% right lol.
