"That's just how they are..."

There is a very good reason I live 1,200 miles away from my closest bio. family member.

OK, this turned my day around. These aren't my ducks, I'm just keeping them for a BYC friend until I can ship them up north.

All it takes is a little water and they are truly blissful. Can't stay angry/sad when you see the sheer joy these beautiful little creatures get out of something so simple.
Made my day.

ETA: By the time it was all over, the garage was soaked, I was soaked, etc...totally worth it.

Somehow the animals, be they wild or tame, seem to know when we need a little mental sunshine in our lives.

I found my joy today while watching the meatie girls try to dustbath (you'd think it would come natural to them).

East texas chick--I am so glad you invite friends and others to your Christmas meal. That is awesome. I hope you all have a good time. Grin and bear it and remember that Never In The Future will you host a get together for the inlaws. NEVER. I also hope you get to spend some time with your sister that lost her husband. I feel so bad for her, this must be a very hard time. Maybe you could find a cheap ticket and bail out of this whole thing altogether?!?!? Bring your sister of course. I would do some serious googling....................! Some of those travel websites have amazing deals. And of course the two of you could switch off on driving and probably get there in no time! The duck is great.

Hmmm, I think what you need for your Christmas present is a couple of plane tickets for you and your sister to go visit your family. Since the local sister works early in the day, fly out on the 26th; that is still only the 2nd Day of Christmas, so you can still be with her. And next year plan to visit there for Christmas, too.

For next time: Formal invitations. Print them so that they look engraved. "The pleasure of your company is requested..." Include a reply by date card. If anyone starts any nonsense where they demand to cook (as compared to saying "what can I bring to help out?"), say that the dinner is already planned, and being catered (sound very formal). The fact that YOU are cooking need not be brought up until the guests begin arriving.

Let's hope you do find some coal...that has metamorphosed

My DH got me something even better than metamorphosed coal-he bought me 9 beautiful new Call ducks at the show in Shawnee, OK. a couple of weekends ago.
