I wanna dedicate this thread to weird places or positions you’ve found your chicken roosting in or on.

Idk if its just because of the age (8 weeks old) or if they're normally goofs and will randomly roost in odd spots. When they first started out in the coop, they were all over the place roosting. Now I’ve “trained” them to roost on the bar with the poop shelf.

I’ll share my most recent “head scratcher”. 😆😆😆
The pictures may be a bit blurry because I took screenshots from a video.

I don’t have a photo of it but one night I couldn’t find my buff Ameraucana, Dolly, any where. I called my neighbor who came over to help me look. Then I called my mom who said she had “a feeling” the chicken was in the car port. I rolled my eyes cause we had already searched there. Plus why would she be there? There was no where she could be. Or where a chicken would want to be. But I looked anyway. And there she was. Nestled into the soft top on my Jeep!! BAD chicken.

They're too young to really roost but I have a chick that likes to sleep standing up, faceplanted into either the leg of the brooder plate or the corner of the box they're in. It knows where the heat is and goes there when it needs to. This is just its preferred sleeping spot 🤷

(The box is usually just a first 24 hours thing but I'm waiting on a delivery to save having to do multiple moves. The weather's been good here though, so they're getting plenty of exercise and enrichment outside and mostly just sleeping indoors)

I have a folding table outside the chicken run/pen. I store things under it, and put the water buckets on when I am filling them. My run/pen is fully enclosed. One night, I went out to lock up, and for some reason felt eyes on me when I went to open the gate. My TWO Orpingtons were roosting on top of the folding table…outside the run! It took me about 2 weeks to find the patch of fence that came undone….they found the hole, went through the backside of the run (about an 8in space between the run and our privacy fence), and came out the other side, to roost on the table. They scared the crap out of me! 😂
