What a heartwarming story

You and your DH are heros!! I've finally talked mom into buying local eggs, till we can get some layin' hens. It is so sad to see what those poor battery hens go through, and the conditions they live in

I ran by another thread which led me to this one..and I bawled my eyes out when I read what happened. People don't realize that animals..all animals have souls and hearts and emotions and feelings!!!! I saw on tv that a man taught his pet snake to learn to play dead..ok that's a snake..but it shows you even snakes can learn. I'm so greatful that you took on these chickens..and I'm greatful that the nasty farmer at least had a heart to let these chickens find a good home and know there is a better life out there. I just wish the farmer would see the light and stop his practice of caged hens. There is a better way!!! We all know that!!!

OMG...

silly me... sniff... my eyes literally teared up when I read your post... I'd like to rescue some hens one day. I have to move to the country though. I'm making a home for unwanted old dogs and cats that get dumped off at the pound because they became too old or smelly for their families... and old horses that were replaced for younger faster ones... and the hens that are treated like *#%^ in those horrible buildings...
Thank you for giving those girls a second -- no, FIRST chance at happiness!

What a beautiful story...I had tears in my eyes while reading your first post. I've often dreamed of doing something like that. If I ever live on a big chunk of land, I will! They look beautiful now, now they can finally start living and not just surviving!
