The “first egg” never gets old...

...no matter how many “first egg(s)” you find. 5+ years in this hobby and I still squeal with delight when a spring pullet lays her first egg.

Like today, when my 24-week-old Welsummer pullet, Ellie, laid her first tiny terra cotta egg (green eggs from my older hens included in pics).

Those are some really nice coloured eggs you got there! I got my first egg ever from (we think) our blue polish x leghorn mixes today!
I almost forgot that we bought chickens for eggs

In all fairness, my Welsummer has been bullied by my older hens (scalped twice) so that may have delayed her laying...the eggs are worth the wait, though!

I love the light tinted color! I have a Russian Orloff pullet I’m waiting on as well and hoping she lays a lighter egg like that.

I thought one of them was going to lay soon, that was the beginning of the month took her some weeks! Russian Orloffs look very pretty i think, it's a shame my coop is full. In real live the egg looks kind of pinkish though, i don't know why
