If you go to the website for the census (I am sure it is somewhere on that form, because that is how I found it) you will find that there are mandatory parts and non mandatory parts. You will find that info on the forms or on the website or you can call the numbers provided.

Mine is a long legal sized sheet that's folded into 6 sections, each section is about the size of a sterno page... but it also has room for 12 people, so it's mostly blank on the one side anyway.
 
Me and hubby filled ours out last night.
Ours only asked for names and ages of everybody in te house, so it was only 1 full page and alittle part of another.
 
I'll probably fill it out. I got into geneaology a few months ago, and thought it was pretty cool to find 1860 census. It actually help trace things back and fill in the family tree.
