Hey, I know this is a bit OT for this thread, but I thought I would post it here since I know a LOT of you are following this thread right now. I just saw this post on Craigslist - http://flint.craigslist.org/grd/3631613819.html Wow! Sounds like they have a serious problem with egg eaters!

Any experts with suggestions want to contact them?

Several ceramic fake eggs in the nest

So now the contests are only open to US residents? Does that include the Hatch-along as well? How disappointing

I was so hopeful this hatch-along would be more inclusive rather than less. Very disappointing indeed.

I highly doubt the chickens and ducks are eating all of them eggs. There is always evidence. Chickens do not normally eat eggs unless they are nutrient deficient. They will peck the shells to check hardness to see if they are worthy of setting, and when they are young out of curiosity. but they certainly don't go breaking and eating a coop full of eggs if they are healthy.

All the hatch-alongs have included other countries. Some of the rises wouldn't be ab;e to be shipped or used though, but the hatching and conversing is always a good time. You need to join!

Told them that it's usually a sign of calcium deficientcy and suggested oyster shell or even baked egg shells. Egg shells will be harder to do if they aren't getting eggs, but it wil work later on. I have an egg eater. Not sure who, but I swear they know color. They aren't touching the blue eggs. Refilled the oyster shell Monday!

Well I received some good news. I called a local breeder of Bourbon Red turkeys to see if she had any toms she would be willing to part with for my two BR hens. She told me she has an 8 month tom that I can have for $35

as she was going to butcher him this upcoming Friday because she didn't need him for breeding. So now I hope to be able to get some turkey eggs for the
Second Annual Cinco DE Mayo Turkey Hatchathon
