Meet our newest additions.... Pig Pen and Sally (all my Pekins have a peanuts theme going on)
These are what my husband got from Chick Days LOL he's hooked
So dang adorable!
I had 13 of my 18 eggs hatch from my first batch. I'm hoping the high humidity hasn't screwed with my second batch. I'm candling tonight so I'll see how many are developing.

They are so cute! I only have them for a little while longer. My DH is taking them to the Mennonites up the street a little later today.
Too cute!

set the 77 coturnix today in with the barred rocks. Soo.. while the lid was off, I just had to try candleing again besides it's day7!. saw nothing

but the air cells look good. and I'm sure there is something in them and I'm just not seeing it. they aren't clear, I'm just not seeing any veins or dancing embryo's. I'll try again on day 14.
I have to say candleing pekin ducks is way more fun you see those veins and embryos pretty clear and quick. and sooo adorable after they hatch! Those cute duckling above by windancer proves my point. congrats windancer!
Gorgeous eggs.

Wow, sounds like Ohio is just like Utah. Straight from Winter to Summer, and the weather can never make up its mind! So sorry, I feel for you guys

Are any of those three chicks you hatched from me looking girly? I lost track of which ones you kept and which ones you've sold already.

Well, I just had my dad show up and give me a hard time for walking around the yard barefoot and in my robe to collect eggs. Hey, at least I ain't a streakin'!

I didn't even know about hatch-a-longs until today. We're also on our first use of the incubator and our very first time trying to hatch. Set 23 eggs so far - two rounds. First batch should hatch the week before Easter and the second the weekend of Easter. I candled the first batch at 1 week and had good movement in 9 of 11. At 10 days, in 10 of 11, so I pulled the stagnant one to prevent a blow up. Tonight will be candling the second batch since we're at 7ish days. And I'll be checking progress on the first batch since they are at about 14 days. So excited to hatch our own. They are mixed breed bantams. Their parents were the offspring of a varied flock of purebred free-range bantams, so they have some very fun mixed characteristics and lay a beaufitul pinkish egg. So excited to see who hatches!

How many eggs do you have set that will hatch Easter weekend?
I have 12 set that will potentially hatch easter weekend. I'm candling them tonight, so I'll have a better idea of how many are still in the running. I'll take a photo when I have the lid off for candling tonight.

In case we needed a photo of how many eggs we set I'll post this too.
I do see my number of 46 was recorded. I set them on Friday around 11:00. Was heading out of town for the weekend at noon last Friday so I had to set early.
